EVENT FULL: Waitlist Only: Free NYE Community Hike: Sponsored by Now Health

Registration required. There is no cost to join us, but we do ask you sign up so we don’t leave any stragglers behind at the trailhead! This event has been made possible by Now Health.

When: Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 9PM. We anticipate it will take our group about 3 hours to complete the hike.

Where: We will meet at the Mat-Su Borough, West Bodenburg Butte Trailhead.

What to expect: We’ll be hiking at a leisurely pace for about 3 miles in total (1.5 miles up and 1.5 miles down). Hikers can expect about 800' of elevation gain up a packed trail. The West Butte trailhead has about 500 stairs during the second half of the climb. We strongly advise ice cleats for this hike and will have some extra gear available for hikers to borrow. At the summit we’ll enjoy hot chocolate and an extended break before heading back down to the trailhead.

Can I bring my pup? No. We ask you leave pups behind for this event, thanks for understanding.

Cost: This is a free community event. Thank you Now Health!

A couple other notes: If you need help finding the trailhead or want to contact Revel prior to the event, please contact the team at 907-903-1664.

What to bring:

  • Bring warm layers

  • Bring comfortable boots or shoes to walk in

  • Water and snacks as desired

  • Trekking poles (if you have them)

  • Ice cleats (if you have them)

A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but we may need to shift plans for a variety of reasons. Safety is our priority and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out if needed.

Will I summit? Revel makes no guarantees that individuals or our group will summit during these adventures. It’s a great goal, but safety remains our top priority. The nature of recreating in Alaska requires flexibility. Weather, wildlife, terrain, injury, etc. can all warrant a shift in plans. Please join our adventures with an open mind.
