About the hike and what to expect: We will plan to hike about 2 miles in on Gold Mint trail and 2 miles back out the same trail. The trail is very well maintained the first couple miles. Terrain is mostly gravel trail with some rolling hills. No more than a couple hundred feet of elevation gain. Our turnaround point will be an old beaver dam and lodge that was destroyed in an avalanche a couple years ago.
Can I bring my pup? No. For this particular event we ask folks to leave pups behind. Thanks for understanding!
Parking: Please note attendees are responsible for covering their own parking fees. Gold Mint trail is an Alaska State Parks maintained trailhead. If you don’t have an annual pass, day parking passes are available for purchase at the trailhead.
A couple other notes: If you need help finding the trailhead or want to contact Revel prior to the event, please contact the team at 907-903-1664.
What to bring:
Bring warm layers
Hat and gloves
Bring comfortable boots or shoes to walk in
Rain gear is recommended
Water and snacks as desired
A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but we may need to shift plans for a variety of reasons. Safety is our priority and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.
Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out if needed.
Does Revel host any free community hikes? Yes! We are offering quarterly, free community hikes. We also have free events that have been made possible through partnership and sponsorships. Be sure to check our events page for our most current offerings.
