Winter River Walk

Explore Alaska's winter wonderland along the Matanuska River. This glacial river rages during our summer season but turns into a frozen playground during the winter months. Meander trails along glacial outwash plains, enjoying breathtaking views and learning about the glaciology of the area along the way.
Frequency: Monday through Saturday at 10am and 2pm
Duration: 2 hours
$375 per group for up to 10 guests
Mild, this hike is rather mellow and flat.

Hike & Hot Chocolate

Spend 2-3 hours exploring scenic trails, culminating in a stop at a local cafe for hot chocolate or a warm drink. Your favorite beverage is included, making this a perfect blend of outdoor activity and cozy indulgence.
Frequency: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday at 2pm
Duration: 4-5 hours
$575 per group for up to 5 guests
$975 per group for up to 10 guests
Moderate-Wild, this hike is somewhat strenuous. It gains ±1000 ft in elevation along the hike.

Sledding

Great for families with children or grown-ups who are kids at heart. This trip takes you to one of the area's most scenic sledding hills - a mountainside just outside of downtown Palmer. Nestled in the Talkeetna mountains, visitors will take a scenic drive before arriving at the sledding hill.
All gear included.
Frequency: Daily departures with custom start times available.
Duration: 4 hours

Moderate, this adventure is rather mellow, except for the part where you hike back up the mountain after a good sledding run!

Intro to Cross-Country Skiing

The Palmer area has phenomenal access to cross-country skiing for all levels. This trip is ideal for visitors new to the sport. Your day starts with a review of different types of cross-country skiing. Your local guide provides an introductory lesson before touring local ski trails. 10% of trip proceeds are donated to our local ski club to support grooming and trail maintenance.
All gear included.
Frequency: Tuesday-Saturday at 10am
Duration: 4-5 Hours
Price varies depending on group size.
Moderate, the first portion of the trip is educational, but once we start skiing it is easy to work up a sweat.

Winter Snowshoe

During our winter season, the Chugach and Talkeetna mountain ranges become blanketed with snow - crisply visible from downtown on a clear day. This adventure takes advantage of the limited Alaska daylight, with exploration on and off-trail. Snowshoeing is the perfect introduction to Alaska winter recreation.
