Intro to Snowshoeing

  • Gold Mint Trailhead Palmer, AK 99645 (map)

When: Saturday, November 23 from 12:45PM-3PM

Where: Gold Mint Trailhead (in Hatcher Pass) Location subject to change based on conditions

About the snowshoe and what to expect: For this intro to snowshoeing hike, we will help you strap on snowshoes and float on the snow. We will start at the trailhead, reviewing gear basics and helping everyone get acclimated with their equipment. From there, we’ll set off on a packed trail to get used to walking in snowshoes on a relatively even surface. After we’ve built up our confidence, we’ll leave the trail and start trudging around in the snow. On the powder, you will experience the feeling of floating in the snow. We will snowshoe up to 3 miles at a leisurely pace.

Cost:

  • $45 if you bring snowshoes

  • $60 if you need to rent a pair

  • Adventure Club members receive a 10% discount.

Do you have scholarships? Yes! We offer community scholarships. Learn more and apply here.

Please note participants are responsible for paying any relevant parking fees. This trailhead is an Alaska State Parks trailhead.

A couple other notes: If you need help finding the trailhead or want to contact Revel prior to the event, please contact the team at 907-903-1664.

Can I bring my pup? No. For this particular event we ask folks to leave pups behind. Thanks for understanding!

What to bring:

  • Bring warm layers

  • Bring comfortable boots or shoes to walk in

  • Winter gear (hats, mittens, scarves)

  • Rain gear or snow gear (as necessary)

  • Water and snacks as desired.

A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but we may need to shift plans for a variety of reasons. Safety is our priority and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have extra supplies and are happy to loan items out if needed.
