About the hike and what to expect: We’ll be hike about 4-5 miles (conditions pending) and gain about 1,800 feet of elevation. Following our walk we will enjoy a beverage at the main parking area. We plan to hike for no more than 3 hours total, so depending what we find along the way may not arrive at the upper lake. Route decisions and our turnaround point will be determined by the Revel guide.

Fairangel Lakes Trail is a lesser-known ‘trail’ in Hatcher Pass, neighbors of the Reed Lakes trail. Our hike will start along the old Fern Mine road. We will head towards Fairangel Creek before heading west and ascending towards a small bowl. There are potentially a couple small creek crossings (depending on water levels) and a small boulder field to scramble. After a steady climb, the trail arrives at a valley in which lie Upper Fairangel Lake and Lower Fairangel Lake.

Parking: Please note participants are responsible for paying relevant parking fees. This is an Alaska State Parks trailhead.

Can I bring my pup? No. For this particular event we ask folks to leave pups behind. Thanks for understanding!

What to bring:

  • Comfortable trail shoes or hiking boots

  • Small daypack

  • Warm layers

  • Rain gear (we recommend carrying both a rain jacket and rain pants if you have them)

  • Water and snacks as desired

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out if needed.
