About the walk and what to expect:
We’ll be hiking 2-4 miles (conditions pending).
Rippy Trail follows runs along the north side of the Knik River valley and provides recreation access for both motorized and non-motorized users. The trail is rolling in nature and can be muddy due to its multi-use nature. This 5.6-mile out-and-back trail starts from the end of Maud Road. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it has an elevation gain of about 900 feet. This trail is great for hiking, mountain biking, and off-road driving, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring.
Parking: Parking is free at the Rippy Trail.
Can I bring my pup? No. For this particular event we ask folks to leave pups behind. Thanks for understanding!
What to bring:
Comfortable trail shoes or hiking boots
Small daypack
Warm layers
Rain gear (we recommend carrying both a rain jacket and rain pants if you have them)
Water and snacks as desired
A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but we may need to shift plans for a variety of reasons. Safety is our priority and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.
If you need help finding the trailhead or want to contact Revel prior to the event, please contact the team at 907-903-1664. Please note, there is no cell service from the trailhead.
Trip minimums: We require a minimum of 2 registered participants to run our community trips. In the event we do not meet our trip minimum your guide will call you the evening prior to our trip departure. In the event we need to cancel a scheduled event due to low sign ups, participants will receive a full refund or credit towards a future event.
Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out if needed.
Does Revel host free community hikes? Yes! We offer quarterly, free community hikes. We also have free events that have been made possible through sponsorships. Be sure to check our events page for our most current offerings.
