About the presentation: Stretching back thousands of years, cultures throughout the world have co-existed with our Bruin neighbors. Learn about the intricately interwoven lives of bears and humans throughout the millennia, and some interesting ways our coexistence is written into our lives.

About Heather Reiss: Heather was raised in the far reaches of Northern California. Heather has worked in the outdoor industry in various educational capacities for almost twenty years, teaching in the inspiring landscapes of Nez Perce National Historical Park, Yellowstone, the Tetons, and Denali National Park. She and her husband Roy first came to Alaska in 2011 and spent the following years working out how to make Alaska a permanent rather than a seasonal home. In 2019 they had the opportunity to make the move with their son and now reside full-time in Palmer, AK. Heather currently spends her time working on her graduate degree in Outdoor and Environmental Education through Alaska Pacific University and homeschooling their son, Finnegan, who is now 6.

Cost to attend: Our speaker series are donation-based/pay what you can events. We do not want cost to be a barrier for community members to attend. Funds collected cover Revel staff time and expenses for the event.
