Revel Community Trip: Custom Glacier Hut Adventure
In late August, nine intrepid Mat-Su Valley adventurers flew by bush plane to the Alaska Glacier Hut, a cozy and well-appointed home-away-from-home perched beside an ancient glacier. Connecting to such rugged terrain in a comfortable setting felt both restorative and invigorating.
Exploring Alaska Wilderness in Style
Using the hut as our base camp, we explored mountainsides ablaze with fall colors, watched a mother bear and cub forage on a riverbed, ate gourmet catered meals, and listened to the glacier ice pop and groan as it moved ever so slowly down-valley.
We tested our outdoor recreation gear and wilderness skills in a safe environment with the help of two knowledgeable Revel guides.
Relaxing in the sauna, kicking back in a recliner to read a book, and simply pondering the landscape and dynamic alpine weather kept everyone content. Throw in a nap or two, plenty of laughing and camaraderie, and we call that a successful trip of a lifetime!
