Registration required. There is no cost to join us, but we do ask you sign up so we don’t leave any stragglers behind at the trailhead!
When: Friday, July 21
Where: Gold Mint Trail (in Hatcher Pass). Plan to meet us in the Gold Mint trailhead parking area.
What to expect: We will plan to hike about 2 miles in on Gold Mint trail and 2 miles back out the same trail. The trail is very well maintained the first couple miles. Terrain is mostly gravel trail with some rolling hills. No more than a couple hundred feet of elevation gain. Our turnaround point will be an old beaver dam and lodge that was destroyed in an avalanche a couple years ago.
Can I bring my pup? No. For this particular event we ask folks to leave pups behind. Thanks for understanding!
Cost: This is a free community event. Donations are appreciated.r If you like these events and want to support them, consider making a donation to our Community Adventure Fund.
Parking fees: Please note attendees are responsible for covering their own parking fees. Gold Mint trail is an Alaska State Parks maintained trailhead. If you don’t have an annual pass, day parking passes are available for purchase at the trailhead.
A couple other notes: If you need help finding the trailhead or want to contact Revel prior to the event, please contact Kierre at 907-903-1664. Please note, cell service from the trailhead and parking area is limited.
What to bring: Bring warm layers, rain gear, water and snacks as desired.
About Community Hikes for our 50ish and older crew: Explore a local trail/area in the company of ‘seasoned’ hikers. We hike at a leisurely pace and chat along the way. These are social outings and opportunities to build community with local outdoor-lovers.
