Cold Water Survival Skills (free classroom session)

When: Wednesday, May 22

Doors open at 6PM. Our course will begin promptly at 6:30PM and last about 1 hour.

Where: We’ll be meeting at the community conference room in the Mat-Su Health Foundation building.

Class cost: FREE. This course is offered free the Alaska Office of Boating Safety.

Is registration required? Yes. This classroom session can host a max of 25 participants, so we ask that you register in advance.

About the class:  Join the Alaska Office of Boating Safety and Revel for a discussion on Cold Water Survival Skills.

We will cover the three stages of cold-water immersion:

  • How your body reacts to cold water the physiological stages

  • Emergency communication and signaling devices

  • Life Jacket law and the different types of life jackets available

This class is open to participants of all ages. Attendees will leave with a basic overview of cold water survival skills and tips and trips to consider when navigating Alaska’s chilly waters.
