When: Saturday, February 21 at 1PM

Please arrive at the trailhead 5-10 minutes before our start time, so we can begin promptly at 1PM.

*This event repeats at different trailheads on the third Saturday of each month*

Where: Independence Mine winter access

About the hike and what to expect: We’ll be snowshoeing at a leisurely pace for 1.5-3 miles (conditions pending). We will mostly follow the road to Independence Mine but might also get off the road into deeper snow. The difficulty of our snowshoeing events can vary greatly based on conditions. We will stick together as a group during the adventure.

At the trailhead, we will review snowshoeing basics. Then we’ll head out on the snow. If you're a more experienced snowshoer, consider joining and partnering with a new snowshoer at the event.

After the event, we’ll enjoy hot drinks at the trailhead.

🥾 Mileage: Approximately 2-3 miles

🥾 Elevation Gain: About 500-1,000 feet depending on our route

🥾 Estimated Hiking Time: About 3 hours

🥾 Moderate for most adventurers

What to bring:

  • Comfortable & warm tennis/trail shoes or hiking boots

  • Ice cleats (we recommend Kahtoolas - they are available for purchase at AKtive Soles).

  • Winter gear (hats, mittens, scarves)

  • Headlamp

  • Rain gear or snow gear (as necessary)

  • Water and snacks as desired

A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but we may need to shift plans for a variety of reasons. Safety is our priority and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.

Trip minimums: We require a minimum of 2 registered participants to run our community adventures. If a scheduled event is canceled due to low sign-ups, participants will receive a full refund or credit towards a future event. Adventure Club members can receive a credit towards future Revel events.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out.
