Ladies Night Out(doors) - November, Matanuska Lake Trail

  • Matanuska Lake Trailhead Glenn Highway Palmer, AK 99645 United States (map)

Registration required. There is no cost to join us, but we do ask you sign up so we don’t leave any stragglers behind at the trailhead!

When: Wednesday, November 15 at 5:30PM

Where: We’ll meet in the parking lot of the Matanuska Lakes Trailhead (right off the Glenn Highway). We will hike approximately 3 miles, making a loop tail.

About the hike and what to expect:

The total elevation gain is no more than 500 feet. Our route will be a combination of rolling hills and flat terrain. We will hike at a leisurely pace, sticking together on the trail.

The hike will mostly be through boreal forest with views of nearby lakes and mountain ranges as weather permits.

Can I bring my pup? No. For this particular event we ask folks to leave pups behind. Thanks for understanding!

Cost: This is a free community event. You be responsible for paying the $7 Matanuska Lakes State Recreation parking fee at the trailhead if you do not have a parking pass.

A couple other notes: If you need help finding the trailhead or want to contact Revel prior to the event, please contact the team at 907-903-1664.

What to bring:

  • Bring warm layers

  • Bring comfortable boots or shoes to walk in

  • Bring a headlamp (we have extras you can borrow if needed!)

  • Winter gear (hats, mittens, scarves)

  • Rain gear or snow gear (as necessary)

  • Water and snacks as desired.

A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but we may need to shift plans for a variety of reasons. Safety is our priority and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out if needed.

About Ladies Night Out(doors): Explore a local trail/area in the company of women! We hope these events will bring together women who are new to hiking and adventuring (or new to the area) with women who have some experience with outdoor adventuring. If you’re a seasoned adventurer open to mentoring a newer hiker or a new hiker looking for an outdoor mentor - let us know :)
