Ladies Night Out(doors) - September Event, Blueberry Knoll

  • Government Peak Recreation Area (map)

Registration now required. There is no cost to join us, but we do ask you sign up so we don’t leave any stragglers behind at the trailhead!

When: Wednesday, Sept. 20

Where: We’ll meet at Government Peak Recreation Area

What to expect: We’ll be hiking at a leisurely pace for a little over 3-miles with about 1500’ of elevation gain. Blueberry Knoll, in Government Peak recreation area, offers stunning views of the Talkeetna and Chugach mountains. We'll start in the forest, meandering between local ski trails for about a mile before starting our ascent. The trail is rooty and steep in places as we climb about 1500 ft. to the knoll and lookout.

We'll hike at a leisurely pace, stopping for breaks along the way.

Please note attendees are responsible for parking fees. The GPRA lot is a borough maintained lot. Parking is $5 per day, per vehicle unless you have a Mat-Su Borough annual parking pass.

Can I bring my pup? No. We ask you leave pups behind for this event.

Cost: This is a free community event.

A couple other notes: If you need help finding the trailhead or want to contact Revel prior to the event, please contact Kierre at 907-903-1664. Please note, cell service from the trailhead and parking area is limited.

What to bring: Bring warm layers, rain gear, water and snacks as desired.

About Ladies Night Out(doors): Explore a local trail/area in the company of women! We hope these events will bring together women who are new to hiking and adventuring (or new to the area) with women who have some experience with outdoor adventuring. If you’re a seasoned adventurer open to mentoring a newer hiker or a new hiker looking for an outdoor mentor - let us know :)
