About the bike and what to expect? 🥾

This route follows the Eklutna lakeshore trail from the day-use parking lot to Bold Airstrip at the far end of the lake and back.

  • Terrain is packed gravel and dirt with small rolling hills and sections of dirt road.

  • A fat bike with studs is strongly recommended for this outing.

  • There is no cell service at Eklutna Lake.

  • Our goal is to bike to the far end of Eklutna Lake, but we’ll adjust the turn-around point if necessary.

We'll enjoy hot drinks at the trailhead following the event.

🚲 Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous for most bikers

🚲 Distance: Approximately 18 miles

🚲 Elevation gain: About 1,000 feet (500 feet on the way in and 500 feet on the way out)

🚲 Estimated Biking Time: All day

What to bring:

  • Winter bike and accessories

  • Studs are highly encouraged

  • Helmets are required. If you need help finding a helmet, please let us know.

  • Comfortable hiking/outside attire (hiking pants and warm, breathable layers).

  • Warm layers (hat, gloves, jacket, etc.)

  • Water and snacks as desired

A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but we may need to shift plans for a variety of reasons. Safety is our priority, and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.

Trip minimums: We require a minimum of 2 registered participants to run our community adventures. If a scheduled event is canceled due to low sign-ups, participants will receive a full refund or credit towards a future event. Adventure Club members can receive a credit towards future Revel events.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out.
