Event Full, Waitlist Only: Walking History Night! In collaboration with downtown Palmer museums

  • Palmer Museum of History and Art 723 South Valley Way Palmer, AK, 99645 United States (map)

When: Monday, October 9, 2023, 5-7pm

Where: The history tour will begin at the Palmer Museum and Visitor Center, located at 723 S. Valley Way, Palmer, AK 99645. Our tour will include a stroll around the downtown Palmer area and end at the Colony House Museum in downtown Palmer, located at 316 Elmwood Avenue, Palmer, AK 99645. Plan to meet inside the Palmer Visitor Center at 5pm.

About the event and what to expect: This evening event is an after-hours opportunity to connect with the Palmer Visitor Center and Museum and the Colony Museum. Both downtown Palmer museums offer opportunities to learn more about the area’s rich history. This particular tour takes a closer look at events and buildings from the Matanuska Colony Project. We hope this activity highlights local resources including the downtown Visitor Center and the Palmer Historical Society.

This tour will be guided by staff of the Palmer Visitor Center and the Colony House Museum, in conjunction with Revel Treks and Tours.

Cost: There is a $30 fee for this event. Registration cost includes walking history tour fees and a contribution to the Palmer Historical Society. Proceeds benefit both organizations equally.

A couple other notes: If you need help finding the visitor center or want to contact Revel prior to the event, please contact Emily at 870-866-7380.

What to bring: Bring warm layers, rain gear, water and snacks as desired. Comfortable shoes for walking.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out if needed.
