Ladies Night Out(doors) - October Event, Crevasse Moraine

  • Crevasse Moraine North Loma Prieta Drive Gateway, AK, 99645 United States (map)

Registration required. There is no cost to join us, but we do ask you sign up so we don’t leave any stragglers behind at the trailhead!

Ladies Night Out(doors) Crevasse Moraine Trailhead to Mooseberry Mesa

When: Tuesday, October 17, 5:30pm-7:30pm

Where: We’ll meet in the main parking lot at the Crevasse Moraine Trailhead on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway. We will hike approximately 3.5 miles from the trailhead to Mooseberry Mesa and back to the trailhead

About the hike and what to expect: We will hike about 3.5 miles on a series of winding trails. The total elevation gain is no more than 500 feet depending on which trails we take. The trail system has some rolling hills that we will be walking up and down but there are also some relatively flat areas. We will be hiking along ridges and depressions that were left behind by retreating glaciers. We will hike at a leisurely pace, sticking together on the trail. The hike will mostly be through boreal forest with some lakes throughout and possibly views of the surrounding Chugach and Talkeetna mountains.

Can I bring my pup? No. For this particular event we ask folks to leave pups behind. Thanks for understanding!

Cost: This is a free community event. You will be required to pay the $5 Mat-Su Borough Parking fee at the trailhead if you do not have a borough parking permit.

A couple other notes: If you need help finding the trailhead or want to contact Revel prior to the event, please contact Emily at 870-866-7380. Please note, cell service from the trailhead and parking area is limited.

What to bring: Bring warm layers, winter gear (if necessary-hats, mittens, scarves), rain gear (if necessary), water and snacks as desired.

A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but trail conditions, wildlife, etc. can all impact our plans. Please know if we need to shift plans your guide will communicate with you in a timely manner. Safety is our priority and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements. If you need to borrow something, let us know! We have lots of extra supplies and are happy to loan items out if needed.

About Ladies Night Out(doors): Explore a local trail/area in the company of women! We hope these events will bring together women who are new to hiking and adventuring (or new to the area) with women who have some experience with outdoor adventuring. If you’re a seasoned adventurer open to mentoring a newer hiker or a new hiker looking for an outdoor mentor - let us know :)
