Community Hike: Solstice Winter Walk for 50ish and over

Registration required. This is a pay-what-you can/donation based event.

When: Thursday, December 21, 1pm-3pm

Where: We’ll meet at the Government Peak Recreation Area upper parking lot and plan for a walk around the Pioneer Loop.

About the hike and what to expect: We will hike/walk for about 1.5 hours along the loop trail. The total elevation gain is minimal, with occasional views of the Chugach Range. This trail travels primarily through boreal forest.

Can I bring my pup? No. For this particular event we ask folks to leave pups behind. Thanks for understanding!

Cost: This is a donation-based/pay what you can community event.

What to bring:

  • Warm layers

  • Comfortable boots or shoes to walk in

  • Bring a headlamp (we have extras you can borrow if needed!)

  • Winter gear (hats, mittens, scarves)

  • Rain gear or snow gear (as necessary)

  • Water and snacks as desired

A note on flexibility: The nature of adventuring outside requires some flexibility. We do our best to follow the itinerary as outlined, but trail conditions, wildlife, etc. can all impact our plans. Please know if we need to shift plans your guide will communicate with you in a timely manner. Safety is our priority and we use our best judgment when making trip adjustments.

Weather: We rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Please bring gear to adventure in the elements.
